We are extending the Deadline for their DALTONIA playwriting competition to 16 September.
The competition invites writers of all ages and levels of experience to write a 10-minute play for up to three characters drawing on some aspect of the history of Dalton In Furness.
There is a prize of £250 for each of the three chosen plays, which will be performed at this year’s Dalton Litfest.
Project Manager John Hall says: “There has been plenty of interest, we have had some submissions, and our local history event was well attended but the timeframe for a first draft has proved difficult for many people to meet, and so we will now be looking for finished pieces by 16 September.
This will hopefully allow time to write and for writers who have made submissions to develop their plays further.
We will also be running some informal Playwriting sessions when people can discuss their ideas and get some advice from professional local writers on character, plot or just getting started. The first of these will be at Dalton Community Centre with writer Caroline Gillfillan on Monday 9 July from 7pm.”
