Calling all local scriptwriters!
Dalton Literature Festival 2018 is commissioning three short dramas under the heading of DALTONIA.
We are looking for local writers to create these new works, which will be performed at Dalton Litfest in November in a number of accessible local venues.
The aim of DALTONIA is to raise awareness of Dalton’s history within the local community, uncovering its links with Furness Abbey and Piel Island, revealing the many historical characters and events through history, and to present the work at Litfest, through new public performances.
Each script should be no more than 10 minutes long, and should feature no more than three characters. It must draw on an aspect of Dalton’s history whether ancient or recent, widely or little known. The piece can be serious or funny or a mixture of the two, but remember, it’s a drama so we need a strong story.
Writers are encouraged to research using Barrow Archive Service and some of the links below, which may prove useful.
Look out too for details of a Writers’ Research day, with material from local archives to help you along.
The closing date for submitting your first draft is June 30 2018.
We will then begin to select a short list. In some cases we will offer suggestions and may ask for further drafts.
The three successful writers will be notified by 30th August 2018.
There will be a fee of £250 per selected script.
Please submit scripts and any questions by email only to John Hall, Daltonia Project Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org
Looking forward to hearing from you!
